Ten-Fathom Ledge is a series of coral ledges with several coral caves that lies roughly one mile southwest of Western Sambo. The ledge is located in 35 to 50 feet of water and the ocean side falls from 50 to 115 feet. This area is great for exploration as several outcroppings and edges offer a variety of views. The ledge is also great for drift diving.
A nice feature of the area is the flow of the Gulf Stream, which generally cleanses the area and creates good visibility for divers. The clarity of the water provides a great opportunity for viewing pelagic life.
Due to the overhang and cave combination, grouper and lobster, as well as eagle rays and sharks, are a common sight at this location. This is a great dive for exploration and its depth range makes Ten-Fathom Ledge a unique ledge for the Lower Keys area.
The wreck of the “All Alone” rests just off the outer ledge in 90 feet of water.
