This site gets its name from the sinking of the Windward Trader in May 1990 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Pompano Beach Rodeo. This 215-foot twin-masted Dutch Freighter lies 1.5 miles due east of the Pompano Pier in 122 feet of water. Both masts still stand and the wheelhouse lies 90 feet down (the deck is at 105 feet) and is set correctly for penetration. The engine room also provides opportunities for entrance. Divers should use an anchor at this location. This is a great dive for technical divers to practice. Grouper, amberjack, and barracuda are often seen here and bull sharks occasionally visit this area.
