This reef takes its name from the large communication cable that runs through the area. Cable Crossing is located 3 3/4 miles south of the Palm Beach Inlet and sits only a quarter mile offshore. The reef lies in 25 feet of water and consists of a series of 4- to 5-foot ledges that are honey-combed with many mini-caves. The caves make a perfect place for sea creatures seeking shelter to congregate.
Numerous juvenile tropicals can be found along with the occasional tarpon. Moderate currents and shallow depths make this an ideal site for novices and snorkelers alike. Divers should make note that this dive site is a protected area.
