Sunk in 1985 as part of Artificial Reef Site 2, the 125-foot freighter Owens sits upright on the bottom. Nearby, the broken remains of Eidsvag, a 150-foot freighter, rest on the bottom. The stern of the ship was broken free by storms and now lies on its port side.
Both wrecks are covered by algae, small sponges, corals, and tiny gorgonians. Trained wreck divers can explore the huge cargo holds of the ships and exit through holes in the hull blown to sink the ships. From the bow of the Owens, divers can see both the Rolls Royce and Murphy’s Barge.
