This is one of the few mini-wall dives in Florida. The wall begins at 25 feet and drops quickly down to 130 feet. It is important to note that when anchoring at Ten-Fathom Bar, anchors should be dropped over the wall.
Although there is often a current, the water is generally clear. Eagle rays, porcupine fish, spiny lobster as well as colorful tropical fish are commonly spotted on this dive. The ledges formed allow protection for many species. Because of the frequency of divers to this location, it is not uncommon for grouper to approach a diver, in hopes of an offering.
There are several species of corals and sponges including human-sized barrel sponges and black coral. The reef extends for more than four miles. This is a unique dive to Florida and a beautiful one. The bar is located 1/2 mile due South of Sand Key.
